Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 777's official website!  Troop 777 is part of the Cardinal District of the Heart of Virginia Council.

Interested in joining Boy Scouts?  We meet every Monday night from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at St. Martin's Episcopal Church.  The church is located at 9000 St. Martin's Lane behind J. R. Tucker High School.  If you have questions about our troop or Boy Scouts, please feel free to contact us.  You are welcomed to visit us at any Monday night meeting.

Annual Webelos Lock-in at St. Martins Dec. 6, 7:00pm

Annual Lock-in to invite Webelos to visit the troop will be held at St. Martins Church Friday December 6th at 7:00pm till Saturday December 7th at 8:30am.  Scouts need to each bring snacks and drinks, games to play with the Webelos, and a sleeping bag.  Troop will provide breakfast on Saturday morning.  Troop 777 members can signup at this link:https://troop777.mytroop.us/node/8828

Scout Elections Monday September 9th

Scout elections will be held on Monday September 9th.  Scouts should come prepared to run for one or more positions.  Descriptions of some of the possible positions can be found here: https://troopleader.scouting.org/troop-positions/

Court of Honor September 30th

Troop 777 will hold a Court of Honor on Monday September 30 at St. Martins Episcopal.  Scouts should have all Scoutmaster and Board of Review meetings for rank advancement completed on or before Monday September 23rd.   All merit badge submissions should be signed by the Scoutmaster and delivered to the Advancement Chair on or before Monday September 23rd.   

Planning Lock-In Aug 16-17

Planning Lock-In will be held Aug 16-17 at St. Martins.  Bring your good ideas and your calendar to this meeting.  All scouts and parents are invited to attend the planning session.  Scouts will plan to spend night after planning meeting has concluded. Scouts bring games, a 2-liter drink, and a snack.

July Canoe Trip - Chickahominy Riverfront Park (Canceled)

Camping trip has been canceled due to expected high temperatures of 100, lack of shade on the canoe route, and challenges with getting a second adult leader due to vacations and such. We may look to reschedule on a future cooler weekend.

We plan to camp at Chickahominy Riverfront Park July 19-21.  Activity on Saturday will be to do a 5 mile canoeing loop that is available around Gordon's Island.  This is the same loop that we canoed last year in preparation for High Adventure.  This canoeing will satisfy one of the Camping merit badge requirements. We will plan to pack a lunch and eat it on the water while canoeing.  Signups for this camping trip can be found here: https://troop777.mytroop.us/node/8878.  

A swim test will need to be completed for those who want to be classified as a swimmer and be able to independently use a canoe. Non swimmers will have to be partnered with swimmers in a canoe to be able to participate in this activity. Please watch for announcements for opportunites to do a swim test before this camping trip.

Adults who want to go camping and have not filled out an Adult Application as a Comittee Member or Assistant Scoutmaster should turn in a completed form at the Monday meeting to give time for them to be processed before the camping trip.  Forms will be available at the Troop meeting or can be picked up at the local scouting store.

We will need adults to be willing to drive and transport borrowed canoes.  So far we have 3 canoes that will need transporting.  If you have a canoe that can be used for this trip, please let the Scoutmaster know.  Additional canoes needed for this trip will be rented at the park.

Swim Test at Shady Grove YMCA

We plan to meet at Shady Grove YMCA during the Scout Meeting time, starting at 7pm, on Monday July 15th to complete the swim test.   Afterward the boys will gather to plan meals for the camping trip before leaving the YMCA.  Parents need to plan to stay with their scout(s) at the YMCA so that they will be able to take the swim test. There is a liability waiver that will need to be completed to participate. Additional information including the liability waiver for this swim test event has been sent out in separate email to all Scouts.
